Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 6-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in the Thetford area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. You'll work closely with teaching staff to provide both academic and emotional support in a specialist educational setting.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a positive, supportive, and structured learning environment. You will help students develop essential life skills, regulate emotions, and engage positively with their education.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Assist teachers with the preparation and delivery of engaging lessons and activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their personal development.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
- Is resilient, patient, reliable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Can build positive and professional relationships with both students and colleagues.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting vulnerable learners.
- Has a positive outlook, good sense of humour, and strong character.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle, as travel may be required.
