SEMH Teaching Assistant New

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 6-16 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialist school in Norwich.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people who require additional support to succeed both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will be confident in building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviours, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering individual learning plans and targeted interventions.
• Support the planning and preparation of classroom activities and learning resources.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote students' social and emotional development.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with external professionals and support agencies where required.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

We're looking for individuals who are:

• Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs.
• Resilient, reliable, patient, and committed to supporting vulnerable learners.
• Able to build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Strong communicators with good organisational skills.
• Adaptable, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Possessing a good sense of humour and a positive attitude.
• In possession of a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel may be required as part of the role.
