We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and motivated SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, develop positive relationships and reach their full potential.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

Location: Colne
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Foster a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Promote positive behaviour and help pupils build confidence and resilience
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Support learning across the curriculum, adapting activities where necessary

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (school or alternative provision experience desirable)
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and consistently
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
