We’re working with a secondary school in Heywood who are looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a one-year maternity cover contract.

You’ll be supporting students who may struggle with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, confidence and engagement in school. The role will involve working closely with students on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them to feel settled, access their learning and make positive progress.

The role:

  • Full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant
  • One-year maternity cover
  • Based in a secondary school in Heywood
  • 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Working alongside teachers and the wider pastoral/SEN team
  • Helping students build confidence and engage positively with school

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Has experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Is patient, calm and consistent
  • Can build positive relationships with students
  • Is passionate about supporting young people who may need additional guidance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
