Are you a passionate and resilient teacher who is committed to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you believe that positive relationships, consistency and understanding can transform a student's educational journey?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher for an immediate start at a specialist setting in Lowestoft. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional emotional, behavioural and therapeutic support to help them re-engage with learning and achieve their full potential.

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where students feel understood, valued and supported. Many of the young people you will work with may have experienced challenges that have impacted their education, confidence and emotional wellbeing. Your role will be to provide the stability, encouragement and tailored support they need to succeed both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Supporting students who may struggle with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties or barriers to learning.
  • Using creative and adaptive teaching approaches to re-engage learners and develop confidence in the classroom.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies that focus on understanding, de-escalation and positive outcomes.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams, parents and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Celebrating individual achievements and helping students develop the skills needed for future success.
