Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Learning Support Assistant to join an amazing team at a specialised SEMH school based in Croydon. As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, assisting them in their educational and personal development journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive relationships and student engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to address student needs effectively.
- Monitor and report on student progress, behaviors, and achievements.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous experience working with individuals with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in education, childcare, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Additional training or qualifications in special education or behavior management.
- Experience using positive behaviour support techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to SEMH provision in schools.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Pay: £90 to £100 per day (PAYE)
This role will lead onto a permanent contract
