Start Date: September 2026

I am recruiting on behalf of several mainstream secondary schools across Central and South Bristol for experienced SEMH Behaviour Mentors and Behaviour Support Assistants.

These are not roles for someone looking for an easy day. The students you will support need positive role models who can build trust, maintain clear boundaries, and turn up every day ready to make a difference.

For the right person, however, this can be one of the most rewarding roles within education.

You will work closely with students who may be experiencing:

  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism and ADHD
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Low attendance or disengagement from education
  • Difficult circumstances outside of school

Support may include:

  • 1:1 mentoring and pastoral support
  • Behaviour and emotional regulation interventions
  • Classroom support across KS3 and KS4
  • Working within inclusion hubs and intervention spaces
  • Helping students access learning and achieve positive outcomes
  • Building meaningful relationships based on trust, consistency and respect

We are particularly interested in candidates who are:

✔ Reliable and committed

✔ Resilient and emotionally intelligent

✔ Confident working with challenging behaviour

✔ Able to remain calm under pressure

✔ Strong relationship-builders

✔ Professional, punctual and consistent

✔ Passionate about helping young people succeed

Schools are seeking individuals who can commit for the long term and become a trusted and dependable presence for students.

  • Behaviour Mentor
  • SEMH Support Worker
  • Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
  • Teaching Assistant (TA)
  • Youth Worker
  • Residential Childcare Worker
  • Children's Support Worker
  • Family Support Worker
  • Sports Coach with behaviour support experience
  • Alternative Provision staff
  • Youth Justice or Community Support backgrounds

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive and proactive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Many schools are located across Central and South Bristol, and the ability to travel reliably is a significant advantage.

  • Make a genuine impact on vulnerable young people
  • Join supportive secondary school teams
  • Gain valuable experience in SEMH, behaviour and inclusion
  • Access ongoing CPD and training opportunities
  • Potential long-term and permanent opportunities
  • Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant

If you're someone who can offer consistency, resilience and positive support, we would love to hear from you.
