Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors New

Teaching Personnel

£100 - 200 per day

Brighton

Temporary | Full Time

No

That's probably the simplest way I can explain what I'm looking for.

I work with secondary schools across Brighton and the surrounding areas, and ahead of the new academic year I'm strengthening the pool of Supply Teachers and Cover Supervisors I can call when schools need additional staff.

You absolutely do not need to be available five days a week.

I'd rather work with someone who gives me two reliable days than somebody who says they're available all week but is rarely actually able to take a booking.

If you want flexible secondary work and you're good at communicating your availability, I'd like to hear from you.

There are two sides to it.

Sometimes a school knows a teacher will be absent and I'll be able to offer you work days-or occasionally weeks-in advance.

Then there's genuine day-to-day supply.

Schools can start contacting me from around 6:30am and occasionally earlier when somebody calls in sick.

On those mornings, I'll start contacting the educators who've told me they're available.

That means this type of work suits people who are comfortable receiving an early call, can respond relatively quickly and are able to get themselves into school that morning.

It also means I can't promise you'll work every day you're available.

If you need a guaranteed five-day working week, I'll happily discuss longer-term opportunities instead. But if you want casual work that fits around another job, study, family life, semi-retirement or simply your preference for flexibility, day-to-day supply can work brilliantly.

I'm recruiting at both levels.

You'll generally need QTS or an appropriate equivalent and will take responsibility for teaching classes during staff absence.

You do not need QTS to work as a Cover Supervisor.

You'll supervise classes using work already prepared by the school, manage behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged with the lesson.

This can be particularly suited to:

  • Experienced Cover Supervisors
  • Graduates considering teacher training
  • Sports coaches
  • Tutors
  • Youth workers
  • People with strong experience leading groups of young people

Beyond the obvious classroom skills, I want people who are:

  • Reliable
  • Responsive
  • Confident walking into unfamiliar environments
  • Comfortable managing groups of secondary-aged pupils
  • Professional and adaptable
  • Clear about their genuine availability

And if a school likes you, I want to get you back there.

That's where day-to-day supply becomes particularly useful. Once schools know you're dependable and can manage their classrooms, they often start requesting you specifically, which can lead to much more regular work.

  • Secondary schools across Brighton & surrounding areas
  • Day-to-day and pre-booked work
  • Opportunities throughout the 2026/27 academic year
  • Competitive daily rates appropriate to the role
  • Work around the availability you provide
  • CPD and training available

Having access to a car is a big advantage for day-to-day work because it increases the number of schools and last-minute bookings you can access, but it isn't essential.

You'll need an Enhanced Child Wo
