Teaching Personnel is working with a specialist secondary school in Salford that supports students with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and associated learning challenges. Many students may also display behaviours linked to anxiety and require a calm, consistent, and nurturing approach.

The Role

As a Secondary SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering a tailored curriculum that meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 11–16. You will be working closely with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure each student reaches their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally.


✏️ Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons suited to a wide range of abilities and needs
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Use a variety of adaptive teaching strategies and behaviour management approaches
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Track and monitor pupil progress, adapting approaches where necessary
  • Support the emotional regulation and wellbeing of students through consistent routines and positive reinforcement
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and development

✅ Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or complex needs
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiation
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
