Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and resilient Secondary SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Preston on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This opportunity is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people who face social, emotional and mental health challenges. The school provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for secondary-aged pupils who may have experienced disrupted education, trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or barriers to learning in mainstream settings.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils re-engage with education, build positive relationships and achieve both academically and personally.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Foster a safe, structured and supportive learning environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience and self-confidence.
  • Build strong, positive relationships that encourage engagement and trust.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of learning abilities and needs.
  • Manage behaviour positively using a restorative and trauma-informed approach.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, celebrating both academic and personal achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, pastoral teams, families and external agencies.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • An understanding of SEMH needs and the impact they can have on learning and development.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient and consistent when supporting pupils through challenges.
  • A commitment to helping vulnerable young people achieve success.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Ongoing CPD, including SEND, SEMH and behaviour-focused training.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant.
  • Opportunity to secure a permanent role within the school.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people every day.

This is an incredibly rewarding role for a teacher who believes in supporting the whole child and understands the importance of building relationships, promoting emotional wellbeing and creating pathways for success beyond the classroom.
