EOTAS Science Tutor - Wokingham

Location: Wokingham, Berkshire

Phase: Secondary / EOTAS

Working arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced Science Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition to an EOTAS student in Wokingham. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role will involve providing personalised Science tuition within a flexible and supportive learning environment. The successful tutor will be expected to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student, adapt lessons to their individual needs and interests, and help them develop confidence, engagement and progress in Science.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tutor who enjoys working on a one-to-one basis and can provide a calm, consistent and encouraging approach to learning. Experience working with students who have SEND, SEMH needs or who have found mainstream education challenging would be particularly beneficial.

The role may involve

  • Delivering one-to-one Science tuition tailored to the student's individual needs
  • Supporting the student with relevant areas of the Science curriculum
  • Planning engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging lessons
  • Adapting teaching methods, pace and resources to suit the student's learning style and needs
  • Helping the student develop confidence and a positive attitude towards Science
  • Supporting the development of independent learning, study and revision skills
  • Encouraging curiosity, questioning and scientific thinking
  • Helping the student re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
  • Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
  • Building a positive, consistent and trusting relationship with the student
  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
  • Maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times

Essential requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Science to secondary-aged students
  • A strong understanding of the secondary Science curriculum
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable
  • Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
  • The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
  • Satisfactory professional references
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
