We are supporting a local secondary school to find a Science Technician to join their team, starting ASAP. This school is dedicated to providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment for all students. With a focus on academic excellence and innovation, they strive to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for science among the students. As part of our commitment to providing high-quality education for every school, we are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Science Technician to join this excellent team in a secondary school based in Romford. 

We are reaching out to find a skilled and enthusiastic Science Technician to support their science department, in delivering engaging and effective practical science lessons. As the Science Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory facilities, preparing materials and equipment for experiments, and assisting teachers and students during practical sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, materials, and resources for science experiments and demonstrations.
  • Assist teachers and students during practical science lessons, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean, safe, and in good working condition.
  • Order and manage inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and materials.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and procedures in handling hazardous materials and maintaining laboratory safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of experiments and demonstrations to enhance student learning.
  • Provide technical support for science-related events, projects, and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the delivery of the science curriculum and promote student engagement and achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working as a science technician or laboratory assistant, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and best practices in science education.
  • Proficiency in handling laboratory equipment, instruments, and chemicals.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
