Are you a Science Technician with a strong Chemistry background looking for a long-term opportunity in an Outstanding secondary school?

We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join an Outstanding mainstream secondary school in Tower Hamlets, East London. The school is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about science and keen to establish themselves in a long-term Science Technician role.

About the Role

You will work closely with the Science Department, providing technical support to teachers and students and helping to ensure practical lessons are prepared and delivered safely and effectively.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Chemistry background, ideally supported by a degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline. Previous experience working in a laboratory environment would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing equipment, chemicals and resources for practical science lessons.

Supporting teachers with experiments and practical demonstrations.

Safely handling, storing and disposing of chemicals.

Maintaining high standards of laboratory health and safety.

Ensuring laboratories and equipment are clean, organised and ready for lessons.

Maintaining and checking laboratory equipment and resources.

Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Science Department.

Using IT systems effectively for organisation and administration.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

A strong Chemistry background.

A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline - desirable.

Previous laboratory experience - highly desirable.

Confidence handling chemicals safely.

A good understanding of laboratory health and safety.

Strong IT skills.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

A proactive, reliable and professional approach.

A genuine desire to pursue a long-term career as a Science Technician.
