Science Teacher – SEMH & Autism School

Full Time (Part Time Considered) | ASAP Start | Long-Term Temporary Position

Are you a Science Teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people?

A specialist school catering for students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism is seeking a Science Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This is a temporary position covering long-term sickness, with the potential to continue on an ongoing basis.

The school is open to applications from qualified Science specialists, as well as teachers from other subject backgrounds who are confident and comfortable delivering Science lessons.

The Role:

  • Deliver Science lessons to students aged 11–16.

  • Teach a mixture of GCSE and Functional Skills level content.

  • Work with small classes of up to 8 students, supported by a dedicated Teaching Assistant.

  • Adapt learning to meet individual needs and abilities.

  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage engagement in learning.

  • Follow existing schemes of work, with minimal planning requirements.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • QTS or relevant teaching experience.

  • Confidence delivering Science lessons.

  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.

  • An understanding of SEMH, Autism, and additional needs is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
