Science Teacher – Durham & Sunderland Secondary Schools Long-Term Supply
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Science Teachers for full-time, long-term supply positions across secondary schools in Durham and Sunderland, with a September 2026 start date.
With multiple positions available across both areas, there is genuine flexibility in terms of setting and location — whether you're based closer to Durham or Sunderland, or open to either. Each school is part of a wider network that Teaching Personnel works with closely, meaning you'll have proper support throughout your placement and a real point of contact who knows the school well.
You'll be responsible for:
Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in line with the national curriculum. You'll assess and monitor student progress, adapt your teaching to support students of all abilities, and maintain the high standards of classroom management the departments expect. Contribution to wider departmental and whole-school activities will also be part of the role.
To be considered, you'll need:
QTS or equivalent, alongside a degree in a relevant science discipline. Experience teaching Science at secondary level is essential, as is strong subject knowledge across the sciences and the ability to deliver confident, well-structured lessons. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
