Science Teacher

Are you an experienced Science Teacher looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Look no further! We are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join our lovely alternative provision in Harrow on a full-time, long-term basis, with an immediate start. This role has the potential to become permanent later down the line.

Responsibilities of a Science Teacher:

  1. Teaching science curriculum: The science teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging and informative lessons that align with the curriculum. They should ensure that the content is accessible and tailored to the individual needs and abilities of the students.
  2. Supporting student learning: The science teacher should provide individualised support to students who may have diverse learning needs or require additional assistance. This may involve adapting teaching methods, providing extra resources, or offering one-on-one guidance.
  3. Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment: It is important for the science teacher to foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected. They should promote positive behaviour management techniques and encourage collaboration and mutual respect among students.
  4. Assessing student progress: The science teacher is responsible for assessing and monitoring student progress through various methods such as tests, assignments, projects, and practical experiments. They should provide constructive feedback to help students improve their understanding and skills.
  5. Collaborating with colleagues and professionals: The science teacher may need to collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and well-being of the students. This may involve participating in team meetings, sharing information, and coordinating efforts.
  6. Promoting scientific inquiry and critical thinking: The science teacher should encourage students to develop their scientific inquiry skills and critical thinking abilities. They should provide opportunities for hands-on experiments, problem-solving activities, and discussions that promote curiosity and exploration.
  7. Building positive relationships with students and families: Building positive relationships with students and their families is crucial in alternative provision settings. The science teacher should communicate regularly with parents or guardians, provide updates on student progress, and seek input to better understand the individual needs of each student
