We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join our EYFS team. This is an exciting opportunity to support children as they begin their school journey, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Reception Teacher to create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, independence and a love of learning.

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract Type: Supply basis – long-term
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday
Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the Reception classroom.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and development.
  • Assist with the delivery of phonics, early reading, writing and mathematics activities.
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
  • Help to create and maintain a positive, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe and record children's progress when required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Support children's welfare and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS setting.
  • A good understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A warm, nurturing and patient approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • A commitment to inclusion and supporting all children to achieve their potential.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification (desirable).
