This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference at the very start of a child’s school journey.

The Role

The Reception year is a vital bridge between early development and formal learning. This role focuses on creating a warm, structured, and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating a stimulating, play-based learning environment aligned with the EYFS framework
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Encouraging early communication, independence, and positive learning behaviours
  • Observing, assessing, and tracking progress to meet individual needs
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support each child’s journey

The Ideal Candidate

You understand that Reception is about more than lessons—it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

You will ideally:

  • Have experience teaching Reception or EYFS, or a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Hold QTS (unqualified teachers with relevant experience are also welcome to apply)
  • Be patient, creative, and engaging
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management with a nurturing approach
  • Enjoy working as part of a supportive team and adapting to pupils’ needs

What’s in It for You?

  • A welcoming and supportive school community
  • Part-time hours to support work–life balance
  • Competitive pay rates
  • Dedicated support from your own Supply Desk consultant
  • Ongoing professional development and future opportunities
