SEND Teaching Assistant - Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a range of supportive and inclusive schools across Cambridgeshire to recruit experienced SEND Teaching Assistants for both full-time and part-time roles.

We are supporting schools with short-term and long-term staffing needs, working with pupils who have a variety of additional needs including SEND and SEMH. These roles are ideal for Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a difference and have the experience to confidently support pupils with additional needs.

A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the range of school locations, but not essential.


The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant working through Teaching Personnel, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored and inclusive learning
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment

A Typical Day May Include

  • Supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day
  • Delivering targeted interventions and structured activities
  • Assisting with classroom learning and adapting resources
  • Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Liaising with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Providing feedback on pupil progress and development
  • Supporting during transitions, breaktimes, or sensory activities where required

Who We're Looking For

  • Essential: strong and recent experience supporting pupils with SEND in a UK school setting
  • Confident supporting needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
