Primary PRU Education Assistant - Behaviour

Pay based on £12.82 per hour.

Area: Merthyr/ Dowlais

 

Our Specialist SEN Branch are currently working with a pupil referral unit in the Merthyr – Dowlais area. The school itself offers placements for students aged 7 – 19.  The students can struggle to access education due to the emotional difficulties, that they may have faced previously. In addition to this, this school also cater for children and young people with Additional Learning Needs.

 

This Specialist School pride themselves on developing student’s emotional wellbeing and social skills in school to ensure they are able to access society & the community in an appropriate manner.  The aim is to develop students to be effective learners, so they can implement coping strategies for their lives in or out of Education.  They do this through a focus on establishing positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills.  This specialist school have a continual recruitment cycle where they have the need for additional members of staff right throughout the academic year.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in behaviour or psychology. Previous experience in supporting young people or adults with complex needs is beneficial but not always necessary. We find some of the best PRU assistants are the ones who want to get stuck into their role and have the right personality to build strong, meaningful relationships with both the learners and the staff team around you.

 

The Ideal Community Education Assistant will have:

  • Ability to use your initiative in situations that may challenge. 
  • Background in either sports, psychology, mental health, support work, youth work and/or Additional Learning Needs or have an interest in supporting vulnerable people. 
  • Have a passion for making a difference.
  • A strong sense of humour

 

What we require from you? (Teaching Personnel will support you with this)

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update service.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council.
  • 2 graded references over the last 2 years.
