Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 1 Teacher looking to make a meaningful impact on pupils at an important stage of their primary education? Supply Desk is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive school in Borehamwood, seeking a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher to join their thriving team.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and stimulating lessons that help pupils develop strong foundations across the Year 1 curriculum. You will support children as they progress through the early stages of Key Stage 1, building their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.

The successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment, ensuring that every pupil feels supported and encouraged to achieve their potential. You will work closely with colleagues, parents, and support staff to monitor progress, address individual needs, and provide engaging learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 curriculum.
  • Support pupils in developing essential skills across phonics, reading, writing, mathematics, and the wider curriculum.
  • Monitor pupil progress through effective assessment, feedback, and targeted support.
  • Create engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and independence.
  • Adapt and differentiate lessons to meet the needs of individual pupils, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Establish clear expectations for behaviour and create a positive environment that supports effective learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to enhance pupil outcomes.

Requirements:

  • A degree alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, particularly Year 1, is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for primary education and helping children achieve their full potential.
