A welcoming and community-driven primary school in Hemel Hempstead is looking to appoint a dedicated Year 2 Teacher from September 2026. With a strong focus on inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and supportive leadership, the school provides an environment where both staff and pupils are encouraged to thrive.

This position is ideal for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to build their career within Key Stage 1, particularly in a Year 2 setting where pupils are preparing for their transition into Key Stage 2.

You will take responsibility for a lively and motivated Year 2 class, guiding pupils through their final year of Key Stage 1. The role offers the opportunity to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum while supporting pupils' academic progress, confidence, and readiness for Key Stage 2.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum
  • Prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments (SATs) in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Teach core subjects, including phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and maths, to a high standard
  • Support pupils in consolidating key literacy and numeracy skills
  • Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment that supports learning
  • Assess pupil progress effectively and use data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community and team culture
