Primary Tutor (EYFS/KS1 Experience Required) - Wokingham

Location: Wokingham
Hours: 10 hours per week (additional hours may be available)
Duration: Full Academic Year (with the potential to continue beyond this period)
Delivery: In-person tuition in the pupil's home (this is not an online role)

Quantum Scholars is seeking a patient, adaptable and experienced Primary Tutor to support a non-speaking Year 5 pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through an Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) provision in Wokingham.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to provide personalised, one-to-one support to a young learner who requires an individualised approach to education. The successful candidate will use EYFS and KS1 teaching strategies to deliver engaging and meaningful learning activities tailored to the pupil's communication, developmental and educational needs.

The tuition will take place within the pupil's home and will involve building a positive and consistent relationship to help develop their confidence, communication skills and engagement with learning.

The role is for 10 hours per week throughout the academic year, with the possibility of additional hours becoming available and the potential for the provision to continue beyond the initial contract period.

This role would particularly suit someone with a strong background in Early Years or Key Stage 1 education and experience supporting pupils with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and individualised one-to-one tuition within the pupil's home.
  • Support the pupil as part of their EOTAS provision.
  • Plan and deliver learning activities using EYFS and KS1 teaching approaches.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet the pupil's individual SEND needs.
  • Support the pupil's communication, confidence and engagement with learning.
  • Use visual, sensory and practical teaching strategies where appropriate.
  • Set achievable learning goals and monitor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the pupil's family and other professionals involved in their support.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular progress updates.
  • Create a calm, nurturing and consistent learning environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching or tutoring pupils within EYFS or KS1.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Confidence working with a non-speaking pupil.
  • A patient, flexible and child-centred approach.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
  • Satisfactory professional references.
  • The right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience delivering EOTAS or home-based tuition.
  • Experience using visual, sensory or alternative communication strategies to support learning.

Quantum Scholars is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in a young person's educational journey and have the experience and empathy required for this role, we would love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
