A welcoming and specialist SEMH provision in Andover is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and resilient SEN Teacher to join its supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inclusive education and making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.

The role will primarily involve teaching pupils within the primary phase, with opportunities to support secondary-aged learners where appropriate. Classes are small, well-supported, and focused on helping pupils achieve both academically and personally within a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

This setting supports pupils aged 4–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional learning needs. Many pupils may be working below age-related expectations and benefit from a patient, adaptable, and relationship-focused approach.

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs

• Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

• Support pupils with SEMH needs using positive behaviour and relational approaches

• Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils working below age-related expectations

• Build strong, trusting relationships that promote engagement, confidence, and progress

• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external professionals

• Monitor pupil progress both academically and emotionally

• Support pupils’ wellbeing, resilience, and personal development

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience within a primary, SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision setting

• Strong understanding of inclusive and adaptive teaching practices

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour

• A calm, resilient, and flexible approach to teaching and learning

The following would also be desirable:

• Experience working within SEMH or specialist settings

• Knowledge of trauma-informed or restorative practices

• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs and/or autism
