Position Overview: As an SEN Tutor based in Wantage, you will work closely with primary aged students with various SEN requirements, providing individualized support and tuition to meet their specific learning needs. Your expertise in using PECS and Makaton will be invaluable in facilitating effective communication and enhancing learning outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tuition and support to primary aged students with SEN.
  • Develop personalized learning plans and resources tailored to each student's unique requirements.
  • Utilize PECS and Makaton techniques to facilitate communication and enhance engagement in learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create a cohesive support network for the student.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and feedback to inform future planning and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with primary aged students with SEN.
  • In-depth knowledge and proficiency in using PECS and Makaton communication systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in Special Education or related fields are desirable but not essential.
