About the Role
Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people? We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated Psychology Graduate to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, development, wellbeing, and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to help them engage positively with their learning.
- Build positive, trusting, and supportive relationships with children and young people.
- Support pupils with their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Assist teachers in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Support pupils who may require additional encouragement or guidance to access the curriculum.
- Help pupils develop their confidence, communication, independence, and social skills.
- Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs, abilities, and learning styles of different pupils.
- Observe pupils and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding their engagement, progress, and behaviour.
- Support positive behaviour strategies and help promote a calm and respectful classroom environment.
- Work closely with teachers and wider school staff to provide consistent support for pupils.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection requirements.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people's learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- An interest in child development, education, mental health, or educational psychology.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
