Position: PE Teacher

Contract type: Full-time

A Catholic secondary school in the Preston area require a PE Teacher to join their team after the Easter break, to cover a full-time post. The successful applicant must be male, and both fully qualified and ECT’s are welcome to apply. This role is to continue until the end of the academic year.

The successful PE Teacher will be expected to:

  • To maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the teaching of PE, considering the wider curriculum and pastoral developments which are relevant to your work.
  • To plan tutorials, activities, lessons and sequences of lessons to meet students' individual learning needs.
  • To use a range of appropriate strategies and follow schools policies for tutoring, teaching, behaviour management and classroom management
  • To assess, monitor and record the progress of students in your teaching and tutorial groups and give them clear and constructive feedback.
  • To set well-grounded expectations for students in your teaching and tutorial groups using information about prior knowledge and previous attainment, making progress as good as or better than similar students nationally.
  • To take responsibility for your own professional development and use the outcomes to improve your tutoring and teaching and your students' learning.

The skills the successful PE Teacher requires are:

  • 2+ years' secondary teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to build rapport with secondary school-age students
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable record of helping students achieve assessment test scores
