Teaching Personnel is working with a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools across Birmingham who are looking to appoint dedicated Pastoral Support Officers from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a lasting impact on their education, wellbeing, and future success.

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you'll be a key member of the school's pastoral team, providing guidance and support to students who may need additional encouragement to reach their full potential.

No two days are the same, and you'll play a vital role in creating a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.

✨ Building positive relationships with students across KS3 and KS4

✨ Supporting attendance, behaviour and student wellbeing

✨ Working one-to-one and in small groups with students who require additional support

✨ Helping students develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning

✨ Liaising with teaching staff, parents and external agencies where appropriate

✨ Promoting positive behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to education

✨ Supporting safeguarding procedures and contributing to a safe school environment

✔ Has experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, coaching or care setting

✔ Is calm, approachable and able to build strong professional relationships

✔ Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills

✔ Can remain resilient and positive in challenging situations

✔ Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential

✔ Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
