Outreach Tutor - Bromyard & Surrounding Areas
Quantum Scholars are seeking a dedicated and experienced Outreach Tutor to support young people accessing EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) and Alternative Provision across Bromyard and the surrounding areas.
This is a rewarding 1:1 role supporting young people who may be outside of mainstream education and require a more flexible, personalised approach to learning and engagement.
You will work closely with individual learners to help them re-engage with education, build confidence and develop positive learning routines. Learners may have a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, school refusal and behavioural challenges.
The role would suit someone who is patient, approachable, adaptable and confident building positive relationships with young people who may have experienced difficulties within a mainstream education setting.
These sessions are referral-based and available during term time only. To be considered for the role, you must have availability during normal school hours.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 outreach support to young people accessing EOTAS/AP provision.
- Supporting learners to re-engage with education in a calm and supportive environment.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with individual learners.
- Supporting young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs, including anxiety, school refusal, autism, ADHD and behavioural challenges.
- Providing personalised learning activities based around the learner's needs, interests and abilities.
- Supporting the development of confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Delivering academic support across subjects such as English, Maths and Science where appropriate.
- Adapting your approach depending on the learner's presentation, engagement and individual needs.
- Encouraging learners to develop positive routines and work towards their educational goals.
- Monitoring engagement and progress and providing appropriate feedback.
- Working collaboratively with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals involved in the learner's support.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is essential.
- Experience in outreach, alternative provision, tuition, intervention, mentoring or 1:1 learning support is highly desirable.
- A patient, calm and empathetic approach.
- Confidence working with young people who may display challenging or disengaged behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to adapt your approach to suit different learners and situations.
- QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching, tutoring, mentoring or youth work experience is desirable, although candidates with strong SEND/SEMH experience will be considered.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Ability to travel to learners across Bromyard and the surrounding areas.
- Availability during normal school hours.
