Nurture Support

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurture Support Assistant to join our team and make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who may require additional emotional, social, behavioural, or learning support to help them engage positively in education and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents/carers, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Location: Nelson
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time 8.30am – 3.30pm (Monday – Friday)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development.
• Assist with behaviour management strategies and pastoral interventions.
• Work alongside teaching staff to support learning and engagement in the classroom.
• Help create a nurturing, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.
• Support children during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and enrichment activities where required.
• Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
• The ability to build strong relationships and establish trust.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
• A genuine passion for supporting children's wellbeing and development.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
• Knowledge of restorative approaches or trauma-informed practice.
• Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
• First Aid training.
