SEMH School - Bromley

We are looking for a Nurture Teacher for a new role at a SEMH primary school based in Bromley. The school has a hugely diverse intake and is proud of its inclusive approach to learning, they also have a SEN provision for children who require additional support.

Nurture Teacher

You will teach a class of 7-8 children and lead and motivate a team of 4/5 SEN TAs. They have undiagnosed and diagnosed needs such as ASD and complex SEMH. Some of the children will be assisted to transition to their mainstream classes and others will remain until a space at a more specialist SEN setting is found. This is a September requirement however the demand is such that the school is looking to make this a permanent role for the right Nurture Teacher as stability is key. Although QTS is preferred, a strong HLTA or unqualified EYFS teacher with SEN experience will be highly suitable and encouraged to apply. Most importantly a passion for SEN/inclusive education, and a positive and enthusiastic energy is essential!

What would the ideal Nurture Teacher look like?

• Primary teaching experience, ideally EYFS

• Experience of teaching ASD children and children with complex SEMH, even if it is in a mainstream setting with high % SEND

• Experience of Attention Autism will be highly beneficial

• Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach

• Experienced and qualified teachers with QTS/QTLS is beneficial.

• Phonics experience

• A nurturing, patient, empathetic and holistic approach

• Passion for teaching SEN children is essential!

NB: Although experience teaching in SEND specialist settings is beneficial I would also love to hear from teachers who are interested in taking their first steps into SEN.

What you can expect from this Nurture Teacher role

• To teach in a setting with a likeminded team who are equally as dedicated to the learning and personal development of children with additional needs

• Supportive and inclusive SLT

• Working within a truly diverse staff team and student cohort

• Access to extensive CPD – this SLT is focused on offering consistent CPD to their staff

• Most importantly a genuine feeling of community amongst staff!
