This role focuses on guiding children within an authentic Montessori environment that nurtures independence, concentration, and a natural curiosity for learning. The educator will support each child's development through carefully prepared materials and experiences across the core Montessori areas.
- Prepare and maintain a calm, orderly, and inviting Montessori classroom.
- Present materials clearly and accurately, following Montessori principles.
- Observe children closely to understand their interests and developmental needs.
- Protect uninterrupted work periods to allow deep concentration.
- Support mixed-age learning, encouraging collaboration and peer support.
- Foster a respectful, peaceful, and inclusive classroom community.
- Guide children through the five key Montessori curriculum areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies.
- Ensure materials are complete, well-maintained, and beautifully presented.
- Support children in developing independence through hands-on learning experiences.
- Introduce sensorial materials to refine perception, coordination, and cognitive development.
- Encourage purposeful activity that builds concentration, order, and self-discipline.
- Support the child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth through child-led learning.
- Recognise developmental stages and respond to each child's readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of observations and progress.
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of Montessori practice.
- Support and mentor assistants within the classroom.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Montessori qualification relevant to the age group (0-3 or 3-6), ideally from a recognised provider such as AMI (Association Montessori Internationale).
