Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal development?

Teaching Personnel is looking for compassionate, approachable and resilient Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Mentors to work within schools across Wigan.

This is a fantastic opportunity for people with experience in support work, mentoring, youth work, education, care or pastoral support who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

As a Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Mentor, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group wellbeing support
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students
• Support students experiencing anxiety, stress, low confidence or emotional difficulties
• Help students develop coping strategies and resilience
• Provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to talk
• Help students develop confidence, self-esteem and social skills
• Encourage positive engagement with education
• Work alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs
• Recognise concerns and follow appropriate safeguarding procedures
• Signpost students to appropriate support when required

• Experience working with children or young people
• Experience in support work, mentoring, pastoral care, youth work or education
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach
• The ability to build positive professional relationships
• Resilience and emotional awareness
• A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
