Are you passionate about providing support and guidance to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you thrive in environments where you can make a positive difference in the lives of young people facing challenges? If so, we invite you to join our team at Teaching Personnel. 

The Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students with SEMH needs in an alternative provision, providing individualised support and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Students within this provision come from a diverse range of backgrounds, many having had experience with the care system and exclusion from mainstream education. A trauma informed approach is essential. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, assisting with academic and social-emotional development.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
  • Support students in managing their emotions, behaviors, and relationships in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and respected.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement personalised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers.

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, ideally in an educational setting desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
