Mental Health Assistant - Reading

A specialist school in Reading is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, or Teachers.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students experiencing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges.
Help students develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and independence.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with students, providing encouragement and reassurance throughout the school day.
* Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
* Observe and monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour, engagement, and emotional needs.
We're looking for a Mental Health Assistant who is:
- Compassionate, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing.
A confident communicator who can build strong, positive relationships with young people.
* Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, mental health, therapy, or education.
* Calm, empathetic, and able to respond appropriately to students who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.
* Able to work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals.
