Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Maths Teacher to join a supportive and welcoming secondary school in the Wolverhampton area.

Maths is an important part of the school’s curriculum, helping students develop the confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills needed for future study, employment and everyday life. Lessons are designed to build knowledge and understanding progressively, while encouraging students to think logically, apply their learning and tackle problems with confidence.
The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated team that is committed to providing students with a broad and well-rounded education. Alongside the academic curriculum, students have access to enrichment activities, educational visits, careers opportunities and a range of extra-curricular activities designed to support their personal development and future aspirations.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Maths lessons across the secondary age range.
  • Teach Maths up to GCSE level, with the opportunity to teach A Level where required.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident to ask questions and develop their mathematical understanding.
  • Adapt lessons, resources and teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with SEND and other additional learning needs.
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide clear, constructive feedback to support continued development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Maths department, sharing ideas, resources and best practice.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, learning and achievement at all times.
  • Encourage students to develop their confidence, resilience, logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support students' academic and personal development.
The School Are Looking For
  • A qualified Maths Teacher or Maths ECT.
  • Previous experience teaching Maths within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a good understanding of the secondary Maths curriculum.
  • Experience teaching GCSE Maths; knowledge of relevant examination boards would be desirable.
  • A confident, enthusiastic and engaging teaching style.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
  • A reliable, flexible and committed approach to supporting student progress.
  • A genuine passion for Mathematics and for helping young people develop their confidence and achieve their potential.
