SEMH Maths Teacher (KS3–KS4)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient and committed SEMH Maths Teacher to join a specialist provision in Silverstone from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching Mathematics and dedicated to supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to learning. You will be joining a supportive and nurturing team committed to creating a safe, inclusive and aspirational learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH needs and associated learning difficulties.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils to support engagement, attendance and achievement.
• Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Assess, monitor and track student progress, ensuring appropriate intervention and support is in place.
• Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, teaching assistants, families and external agencies.
• Prepare students for GCSE Mathematics and support them in achieving their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Mathematics at KS3 and KS4.
• A strong understanding of SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches to teaching and learning.
• Experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour, or a willingness to develop these skills.
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience, patience and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Desirable:

• Previous experience working within an SEMH, alternative provision or specialist educational setting.
• Knowledge of restorative practices, de-escalation techniques and therapeutic approaches.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD or Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
