We are recruiting on behalf of a large and inclusive secondary academy seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner in Maths to help strengthen teaching and learning and raise outcomes across the school.

Shaping great teaching through modelling, coaching, and evidence‑informed practice sits at the heart of this role. The successful candidate will combine deep subject expertise with a collaborative, supportive approach-using insight from data and research to drive meaningful improvement and ensure pupils' progress remains central to teaching practice.

Applications are welcomed from existing Lead Practitioners, as well as from experienced teachers ready to work towards Lead Practitioner accreditation, with appropriate support provided.

As Lead Practitioner in Maths, you will be a visible model of exceptional classroom practice and a key driver of professional development. Working closely with subject leaders and senior staff, you will help embed high expectations, refine pedagogy, and build a culture of continuous improvement across the academy.

• Model consistently high‑quality Maths teaching and exemplary classroom practice
• Develop and share high‑quality resources that support strong teaching and learning
• Lead coaching, mentoring, and professional development to improve classroom practice
• Support appraisal and development processes through focused feedback and guidance
• Use data to identify teaching priorities and pupil needs, implementing targeted improvement strategies
• Coordinate monitoring and evaluation activities, including observations, learning walks, and work scrutiny
• Research and share best practice, leading evidence‑informed professional development
• Work collaboratively with leaders to support whole‑school improvement

• An outstanding Maths practitioner with a strong impact on pupil outcomes
• Experience supporting, coaching, or developing other teachers
• Secure understanding of research‑informed pedagogy and curriculum design
• Strong analytical skills and confidence using data to inform improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to influence teaching practice beyond your own classroom
• Accredited Lead Practitioner status, or readiness to work towards accreditation with support
