Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Maths department and assisting students in their mathematical learning journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Collaborating with Maths teachers to deliver engaging and interactive lessons, providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may require additional assistance with understanding concepts or completing tasks.

  2. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and activities for Maths lessons, ensuring they are aligned with the curriculum objectives and cater to the diverse learning needs of students.

  3. Individualised Support: Providing targeted support to students with varying abilities, helping them to build confidence in their mathematical skills, overcome challenges, and achieve academic success.

  4. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting in the assessment of students' mathematical progress and attainment, providing constructive feedback to teachers and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of students' academic development.

  5. Extra-Curricular Activities: Supporting extracurricular Maths activities, such as Maths clubs or competitions, to further engage students and foster a love for mathematics beyond the classroom.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field from a reputable university.
  • A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing mathematical challenges or additional needs.
