Teaching Personnel are currently supporting a local secondary school to recruit a full time Librarian to join their team. This position is to start ASAP. 

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian to join a lovely school based in Romford. The ideal candidate will be passionate about connecting individuals with information, resources, and literature that enrich their lives. The Librarian will play a crucial role in managing our library's collection, providing assistance to patrons, and organising engaging programs and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organise the library's collection of books, periodicals, multimedia materials, and digital resources.
  • Assist patrons in locating and utilising library resources effectively.
  • Provide reference services, answering inquiries, and assisting with research projects.
  • Develop and implement library programs and events to promote literacy, learning, and community engagement.
  • Maintain library records, including circulation statistics, acquisitions, and patron information.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in library science.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance library services and support educational initiatives.
  • Ensure the library's physical and digital spaces are welcoming, organised, and conducive to learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience working in a library or similar educational setting.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in library management systems, cataloging procedures, and information retrieval tools.
  • Familiarity with digital resources, online databases, and electronic library services.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for lifelong learning.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
