Are you a passionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Firswood from September. This full-time position involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in adapting learning activities, encouraging independence, and creating a nurturing environment where the child can flourish.

Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO, external professionals and parents, you will help implement tailored strategies that support both educational progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet the individual needs of the child
  • Support academic, social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Implement strategies outlined within EHCPs and personalised learning plans
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND professionals to monitor progress
  • Encourage confidence, independence and active participation in learning
  • Foster a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Record observations and provide regular feedback to the wider school team

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential)
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a school or specialist setting
  • Knowledge of needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for inclusion and helping children succeed
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
