We are currently seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team at a school located in Birkenshaw, West Yorkshire, within the Yorkshire and the Humber region. This is a temporary position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work full-time hours. As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning activities within the school.

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with their learning activities.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of students during class and break times.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Monitor and record student progress and report to the class teacher.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff and professionals to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Promote good behaviour and maintain discipline within the classroom.
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Valid and up-to-date enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.

Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

  • Good understanding of the national curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with children.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Additional relevant qualifications in education or child development.

The Level 2 Teaching Assistant will primarily work within the school premises during regular school hours. The role may involve occasional participation in extracurricular activities or events outside of normal working hours.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate ranging from £11.85 to £14.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
