Reception Learning Support Worker - Cardiff

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Term-time only (approx. 12 weeks off per year)

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Cardiff, supporting children within a Reception class.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early years education who is looking to make a real impact during the most important stages of a child's development.

You will be working closely with the class teacher to support pupils aged 4-5, helping to create a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment. The role will involve both general classroom support and working 1:1 or in small groups with children who may need additional guidance.

• Supporting children with early learning skills including phonics, reading, and basic numeracy
• Assisting with classroom activities through play-based learning
• Providing 1:1 support where required, including children with additional learning needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
• Supporting the teacher with classroom preparation and daily routines
• Ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils at all times

• Experience working with children (school, nursery, childcare, or similar)
• Strong understanding of Early Years/Foundation Phase learning
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children's development

• Experience working with SEN/ALN
• Relevant qualifications in childcare or education
• Knowledge of phonics programmes and early learning strategies

• Consistent Monday-Friday hours 
• Term-time only role with approximately 12 weeks off per year

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
