We are currently working with a secondary school in Heywood that is looking for a full-time Learning Support Mentor to join their team. This would suit someone who is passionate about helping students who may need a little extra support, encouragement or guidance throughout the school day.

The role will involve working closely with students who may find aspects of school challenging, helping them stay focused, engaged and confident in their learning.

You will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to support students both in and outside of the classroom. This could include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small-group basis.
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers that are affecting their learning.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Encouraging students to engage with their learning and make progress.
  • Providing support with behaviour, confidence and motivation where needed.
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team.
  • Helping students develop their independence and confidence.

We're looking for someone who is patient, approachable and genuinely enjoys working with young people. Previous experience in a school or similar setting would be beneficial, particularly if you have supported students with additional needs or challenging behaviour.

You'll need to be someone who can build relationships, remain calm when things are challenging and provide consistent support to students who need it.
