Are you a caring, patient, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you will play an important role in supporting students with their learning, development, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them access learning and participate positively in the classroom.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and effective learning activities.
- Work with students across a range of abilities and learning needs, adapting support where appropriate.
- Assist students with literacy, numeracy, communication, and other areas of their academic development.
- Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND, ensuring they receive appropriate assistance to engage with the curriculum.
- Encourage students to develop their confidence, independence, social skills, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Provide appropriate pastoral and emotional support to students, helping them to feel safe, valued, and included within the school environment.
- Help manage and promote positive behaviour, using appropriate strategies to support students' engagement and development.
- Monitor students' progress, behaviour, and engagement, providing feedback to teachers and relevant members of staff.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, other support staff, and the wider school team to ensure students receive consistent and effective support.
- Assist with preparing classroom resources, displays, activities, and learning materials.
- Support students during break times, lunchtimes, school activities, trips, and other school initiatives where required.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate and achieve their potential.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and child protection requirements.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with students.
- Patience, empathy, and a calm approach when supporting students with different needs.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
- The ability to promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm and supportive learning environment.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
