Learning Support Assistant

Location: Shawford
Salary: £14.25 per hour
Hours: Full time, term time only

We are looking for a caring and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist primary school in Shawford, supporting children aged 4–11 with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, build confidence and independence, and manage their emotions and behaviour.

You will provide classroom, one-to-one and small-group support. Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils with learning and communication needs

• Helping children engage with lessons and activities

• Encouraging confidence, independence and social skills

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

• Working closely with teachers and other professionals

• Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and activities

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is helpful, but we also welcome candidates with transferable experience in education, childcare, care, youth work or similar settings.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
