Teaching Personnel are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join primary schools across Southampton from September 2026.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with SEN experience who are confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis as well as delivering small-group interventions. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop their confidence and make progress both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN and additional needs
  • Supporting and delivering small-group interventions
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning
  • Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and academic development
  • Promoting positive and effective behaviour management
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team
  • Adapting your approach to meet individual pupils' needs
  • Developing positive, supportive and trusting relationships with pupils

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar environment
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN
  • Are confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support
  • Are patient, caring and approachable
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Are passionate about children's learning and development
  • Are reliable, adaptable and able to build strong relationships with pupils
