Teaching Personnel are seeking compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work within specialist schools and provisions across East Manchester. We are looking for individuals who want to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with a wide range of educational and emotional needs.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate and Complex Learning Difficulties
  • Sensory Processing Difficulties
  • Physical Disabilities

Your responsibilities may include:

✅ Providing 1:1 support tailored to individual pupil needs
✅ Assisting with small group interventions and classroom activities
✅ Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
✅ Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
✅ Adapting learning approaches to meet individual needs
✅ Building positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
✅ Helping create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • SEN Support
  • Education and Teaching Assistance
  • Care and Residential Support
  • Youth Work
  • Children's Services
  • Psychology or Education Graduates
  • Sports Coaching and Mentoring

The ideal candidate will have:

✔ Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
✔ A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
✔ Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
✔ A genuine passion for helping children succeed
✔ Full-time availability (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm) preferred
✔ An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
