Learning Support Teaching Assistant – September Start

Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to support pupils within a local primary school from September 2026.

The school is looking for a dependable and enthusiastic member of support staff who can work alongside teachers to provide effective classroom and learning support. The position would suit someone who is confident working with children and enjoys helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

You will play an important role in creating an environment where pupils feel supported, valued and confident in their abilities.

The role could involve:

  • Supporting pupils during whole-class teaching
  • Delivering individual and small-group learning activities
  • Reinforcing key English and Maths skills
  • Helping pupils stay focused and engaged with their learning
  • Supporting children who require additional guidance or encouragement
  • Working alongside teachers to implement learning strategies
  • Encouraging independence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Supporting classroom routines and preparation
  • Promoting positive behaviour and strong relationships
  • Providing general pastoral and learning support

The school would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, youth worker, childcare professional or in another child-focused role.

To be successful, you should be:

  • Patient, approachable and supportive
  • Confident communicating with children and adults
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently when required
  • Adaptable to different classroom situations
  • Passionate about supporting children's development
  • Reliable and committed to maintaining high standards
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Experience supporting children with SEND would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from candidates with a broad range of relevant experience.
