Learning Support Assistant – Borehamwood

About the Role:
Supply Desk are seeking a compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in the Borehamwood area. The successful candidate will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide high-quality support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential both academically and personally.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Learning Support Assistants, as well as those looking to gain valuable experience within education in a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students across a range of abilities and year groups
• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that meet individual learning needs
• Assist students with additional learning needs, encouraging independence and confidence in the classroom
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Monitor student progress and communicate observations effectively with teaching staff
• Prepare learning resources and support classroom activities as directed by the teacher
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents to support student development
• Encourage student wellbeing, engagement and participation throughout the school day
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting
• A patient, caring and flexible approach to supporting students with a range of learning needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and use initiative when required
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• Relevant qualifications or experience in education, childcare or special educational needs are desirable but not essential
